The Five Words of Christmas - Clyde Raynard - December 8th, 2024
“And … the Word became flesh…”
First Investigative Word – “Who?”
John 1: 1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
Second Investigative Word – “What?”
John 1:14 – “The Word became flesh”
1 Timothy 3:16 “ Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith:
Philippians 2:5b-7 “ …Christ Jesus...
Third Investigative Word – “Where?”
Luke 2:4-5 “Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.”
Micah 5:2 “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah (fruitful),
The Fourth Investigative Word – “When?”
Luke 2:1-2 “Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.
Galatians 4:4
The Fifth Investigative Word – “Why”?
Luke 1:31-33 “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”
Matthew 1:20-21
The cross is WHAT Christmas is all about.
The cross is WHY the Word became flesh.
Without the cross, Christmas is totally meaningless!
John 3:16
“For God so loved _______, that He gave His only begotten Son, that if ______ believes (puts their faith and trust) in Him, ______ shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Who is Jesus Christ to you?
A Saviour?
The Saviour?
My Saviour?
If He is not your Saviour, He will be your judge!
Acts 17:30-31
He will either be your Saviour, or your judge.
Which will it be?
Your choice!
There is no middle ground.
John 3:17-18
Hebrews 10:26-29
“… the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10
Christmas is for Sinners!
1 Timothy 1:15
