Do you want to know the key to knowing whether or not something or someone is fake? Immerse yourself in the real thing. People who come from families that are really toxic, have no idea what real love looks like, and so it's harder for them to spot the real deal. But people who have had experience with a lot of stable, healthy, loving relationships can more easily spot what an unhealthy one looks like. It's the same when you are trying to discern whether or not something that sound or looks like the Gospel is true. If you aren't immersed in the real deal (the actual Bible), then everything can start sounding true after awhile. And that's where the danger lies. We are so easily tossed 'to and fro' when it comes to our beliefs. We aren't born inherently naturally strong believers. It takes time and it takes intentional immersing ourselves in things that build our 'spiritual muscles'. Like daily reading of the bible, prayer and, surprisingly, serving .Serving the body of Christ, for the purpose of becoming more like Christ and for the Glory of Christ alone, is one sure way to become spiritually strengthened and mature. The whole body of Christ is built up this way, with each member exercising their spiritual gifts on a regular basis.
