He is a King unafraid to be connected with His people’s failures and suffering. Rather than being “above” the suffering and failure, He identifies with it. Jesus is not just the King of the “great people.” He is the King of failures, losers, rejects, and outcasts. He is Lord of our brokenness, uniting Himself to our sin so as to transform it by His grace. What matters in the Kingdom is not what we’ve achieved, but that God loves us!
