Description

Recorded near New Castle, Delaware

This snapshot was collected in conjunction with the Museum on Main Street program at the Smithsonian Institution. It is part of the "Be Here: Main Street" collection, intended to capture Americans' stories about their neighborhoods, waterways, towns, traditions, and personal experiences.

"I grew up outside of a historical town on the east coast, and it was such a great experience being able to go in this town and see homes and buildings that George Washington and other important historical figures visited. It was also a great place, we had parades and special days when they would open the historical homes for special tours.

Also, some fantastic restaurants and shops are in the town and continue to be there actually as well as all the different festivities. The town is right on a river, so we would walk along the river and talk about life and our ambitions. It was a great experience."
