"Hi, I'm Rachel. I'm from a small town in Wisconsin, and one recipe that has been passed through my dad's side is a cookie recipe from my grandma for cut-out cookies, and they are just so good. They're just amazing, and the recipe was made, created, whatever, by my great, great, great grandma and just has been passed down and we always make it Christmas, always, and Easter for Easter cookies. But they're a big hit during Christmas. Everybody loves them."
Part of the "Stories from Main Street" project--an effort to collect stories about small-town life across the United States. The initial project was the brainchild of the Smithsonian's "Museum on Main Street" program, an initiative that brings traveling exhibitions about subjects of national importance to small towns across America. This content is also included in the "Be Here: Main Street" initiative. "Be Here: Main Street" is a program created by the MuseWeb Foundation, in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES).
