"Be Here: Baltimore" and the Baltimore Stories project launched in the summer of 2016, in conjunction with the Peale and the MuseWeb Foundation. The storytelling program is a way to discover the people and places of the city, as told by the residents of Baltimore. To date, we have shared more than 1,500 stories online, through live events at the Peale, and in Baltimore’s communities.
In the spirit of Halloween, Peale resident photographer Daisy Brown talks about an unexplained occurrence at the historic Peale building in Baltimore.
"Hi, my name is Daisy Brown. I am the staff photographer for the Peale here in Baltimore. And one of my memories is when I first started working, I was tending and greeting guests coming in at the front desk, and I remember one time early on, it was a nice day, but it wasn't windy. There was no type of funnel of wind going through the halls and the front door. So the door was open. I think it's like summertime and just out of nowhere the door just shut.
And it was only me in the building for that time period, and so I went to the door and I was looking around like, 'What's going on?' It was completely ajar. And it just shut, and it just threw me back. So I just chalked it up to Mr. Peale and said, 'You know, this is your house, and I'm just a guest, so whatever you want to do, that's up to you.' So that's my little Halloween story of Peale story if you will! Thank you."
