Description

Hear a complete interview with Rena Steinzor, of the University of Maryland Law School. The interview is part of an unfolding collection of stories from prominent environmentalists in the state of Maryland and Virginia, recorded in 2019-20, and supported by the Town Creek Foundation.

In this conversation, conducted by Eve Austin in collaboration with the Peale Center for Baltimore History and Architecture, Rena talks about her environmental work in Maryland, moving a community out of an toxic industrial park, as well as her early work in Guam. Rena says that the "effort to play an inside Washington game, rather than going back to basics and organizing [at the grassroots level] was a fatal mistake my generation made."
