Description

Prof. Taya R. Cohen, Professor of Organizational Behavior and Business Ethics at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, shares thought-provoking insights from her research, “Moral Character: Having a Conscience at Work.”

The research investigates how individuals’ honesty and ethical choices impact others and the organizations in which they work. Drawing on organizational behavior, psychology, and business ethics, Dr. Cohen examines the antecedents and consequences of moral behavior and trust. By studying both differences across individuals and consistency within individuals over time, her work seeks to address challenges arising from dishonesty and misconduct in business and society. Across disciplines, she develops and tests theories of human behavior that can be applied to tackle complex problems in business, law, and health care, with a focus on moral character, honesty, negotiation ethics, and collaboration. A central theme of her research is the role of the individual in shaping the world around them.
