INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS:
[01:24] At the rapid pace with which technology is progressing, it is estimated that there will be between 50-100 billion connected devices by 2020, with many of them being devices in motion. What are some of the challenges you've encountered with mobile IoT devices?
[03:16] Tell us a little bit about Aeris and the different ways with which you help businesses overcome the challenges with mobile IoT devices?
[07:35] What are the connectivity challenges for Autonomous Vehicles?
[07:35] Dispelling the myths of 5G capabilities for Autonomous Vehicles.
[07:35] 5G won't allow you to remotely control Autonomous Vehicles.
[11:50] Defining the term Connected Cars.
[12:45] Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2X) considerations.
[14:52] According to the USDA, agriculture accounts for approximately 80% of the Nation's consumptive water use, and over 90 percent in many Western States. What this means is that we're not drinking this water! In addition, we're dealing with a growing population, and climate change, which will increase our requirements for drinkable water. What can we do about this?
[20:55] One of the things I haven't yet discussed on this show is Cold Chain. We know that when we need milk, we go to the refrigerator. When we're out of milk, we go to the store and buy more. What people aren't even aware of is what goes into getting perishables from their point of origin to your regrigerator!
[20:55] Cold Chain is criticial for delivering vaccines, as 90% of vaccines delivered in Africa are damaged.
[24:16] IoT Technology saving lives of children.
[25:00] One industry that is heavily reliant on IoT Technology is the shipping industry, which according to the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) is about 90% of global trade! With millions of products traveling our seas on a daily basis, how do our global shipping partners keep track of everything?
[25:00] Within the next 10 years, low Earth orbit sattelites will be leveraged to assist with tracking of shipped materials.
[27:38] V2X Technology being leveraged for Port Management.
[29:08] What's next for IoT Mobility?
[31:34] Sudha Jamthe, Author of 2030 The Driverless World: AI today is specialized to do one task each, and all models are training offline and run as inference models in a live vehicle or an IoT module. Given this reality, what is needed for autonomous trucks to act in real time, based on their diagnostic data, to make decisions to refuel themselves, or go for service, to someplace without human intervention?
