Description

Urban Farming with Jonathan Bernard, Square Roots.

Jonathan Bernard is an urban farming Entrepreneur with Square Roots in New York City. In November of 2016, Square Roots chose ten urban farming entrepreneurs to run their own farms and build their own businesses. Founded by Tobias Peggs and Kimbal Musk, Square Roots is an urban farming accelerator that runs for one full year, before selecting a new cohort year after year.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, he studied accounting in college and worked in the field for a few years. Later realizing he really wasn't happy, Jonathan decided to follow his passion for cooking and growing food, and very coincidentally discovered Square Roots, which at the same time was planning to start their first ever program. He's now seven months into the program and ridiculously grateful he took this leap of faith.

Jonathan is extremely knowledgeable in urban agriculture, and fields lots of questions from our awesome global audience! What are the pain points of farmers? How do you explain #IoT to farmers? What specific agriculture IoT use cases have the highest ROI? Are indoor grown foods nutritionally equivalent to those that are grown outdoors? Check out this value packed episode to find out!
