Description

This week, Hamish and Jade are once again joined by guest co-host Melissa Trender discuss the spooky, kooky and all-together ooky world of monsters!
We begin with a little monster mash as we discuss our favourite monsters before trying to define what the word means and how they used in media as obstacles, metaphors and more recently, relatable characters.

Monsters are frequently used to represent our fears which unfortunately means they often play the part of the Other. Frequently they’ve pushed sexist or ablest fears. Queer and nerdy people like us have found ourselves rooting for the monster and in recent years creatures like vampires and werewolves have often been the heroes of the narrative in order to represent this.
