I want to tell a personal story that goes back to my college days. I was mentored by a man that had a deep faith in Christ. It’s impact on my life changed the course of my life. As I think about I and II Timothy, Paul had the same impact on a young believer named Timothy. It’s the story of the future of the church. For the church to survive the storms of our current modern culture, it needs more Pauls and more Timothys. Be Strong Timothy, fight the good fight of faith as I have done, says Paul. There’s truth in this passage for all of us. Why? Because we all will one day come to the end of this life and either have passed along what we have learned and become to others or watch it all come to an abrupt end.
