We live in a world that often feels make believe. The line between fantasy and truth has been blurred. We are told one thing, but we know it's not true. We refuse to believe what we know is true because it's inconvenient. We cover up some, bury others, and believe what is most convenient whether it’s true or not. Yet, in the midst of this fantastical haze we live in, the Christmas story breaks through and a light shines. You cannot deny it because you can see that light everywhere. It shines in darkness. Jesus was born into the Roman Empire in the year 3 BC. Whatever you believe about Jesus, you cannot deny the reality of His life, any more than Caesar Augustus or Genghis Khan. What you do with Jesus is another story. If I were to write the story of Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Messiah, Savior of the world, it wouldn’t be the way the gospel writers told his biography. With nothing but the truth to tell, they told it like it is. It has the makings of a rags to riches story.
