I remember riding up a lift at Mammoth with a wild-eyed, bearded-awesome-outdoorsman and we got to talking about God and nature. “This is my church,” he claimed, pointing to the beautiful trees, snowpack, and mountains. I shared his sentiment about how awesome it was, but I probed a bit. “This is what I love, this is what I worship,” he declared, arms opened wide.

Last year I was intrigued by what James K. A. Smith said,
“You need to invest in the formation of your imagination. You need to curate your heart. You need to worship well.
Because you are what you love.
And you worship what you love.
And you might not love what you think."

It has caused me to think more deeply about what I love, and the implications of worshipping what I love. We are in the midst of 12 important conversations about the words and ways of Jesus so that we can be more thoughtful, informed, inspired disciples or apprentices. This weekend we’ll talk about Worship. What did Jesus say about worship? How did Jesus practice worship? It’s all called, The Art of Following Jesus.
