Description

Sometime ago I got sued for a bike accident on the Strand. It went to a jury trial in the Torrance Courthouse. My home insurance lawyer represented me, but I was my only witness. The woman suing me hired a lawyer and multiple expert testimonies. I won, the jury believed that my testimony was valid, hers a stretch. I knew the truth in my heart, and swore with hand raised to tell the truth, and so was confident before my opponent. Jesus faced a way different trial, and was calm and confident, secure in his own testimony about his identity and calling. But he had another witness, his profoundly intimate relationship with his Father. As followers of Jesus, we are invited to face the trials coming at us with an uncommon serenity because we know, really know, who God is. Read John 8:12-20 and see how Jesus pulled this off.
