"Ugh... I find Christianity to be deeply uninspiring." My new acquaintance meant no insult as her voice carried authentic frustration with her experience of Christianity. Though she had intellectual questions about faith, her main issue with the Christian message she had heard to that point in her life was not that she found it rationally unconvincing; her main issue is that she found it personally uncompelling. Experience tells me that this is not a feeling isolated to those who are not yet followers of Jesus--even many of us in the church quietly struggle to see the message of Jesus as relevant and compelling to our actual lives. Yet, the true Jesus of Scripture is nothing but compelling. Join us for a new teaching series--Our Compassionate Savior--as we learn to experience and live with the compassion of Jesus. We'll begin by seeing in Matthew 8:1-4 that the compassion of Jesus is personal.
