I am intrigued and fascinated by stories of wagon trains crossing the country and the Rockies, in order to get to California to find a new home. Some stopped in Nevada, and that’s their bad. Their journey usually took months or longer, and included babies born and family members dying. Contrast that with the ease of jumping on a plane and in a few hours flying to New York City, with nothing but a credit card, or Apple Pay, in your pocket. But something more intriguing is at work: I’m calling it Missional Praying, and our divided world may have blinded our sight to its spiritual power. Without the ardor of a wagon train, or even airline travel, we can impact a desperate situation and people-group, in any country in our world, while washing the dishes, or walking our dog. I’m hoping our talk about Colossians 4:2-6 will expand our vision and transform our lives as we pray “your kingdom come, on earth, just as it is in heaven,” right now.
