I love how the Spirit moves in Acts! It is so cool to see and I deeply want that same movement in my own life! While there is no quick fix solution to this, one aspect of the early Christian community is that its Spiritual fire was kindled by the prayers of its people. Meaning, they were people of prayer! Through the book of Acts, there is a complementary nature to the Spirit's moving and people praying. God, in his freedom and love, has chosen to move through people who are close to himself, people of prayer. I am struck by this, and want to listen to the book of Acts to help change, encourage, and deepen my own prayer life.
David Crump notes, "The well rounded collection of diverse minds, emotions, concerns, interests, passions, and insights assembled by an entire community at prayer creates an open tinderbox receptive to whatever sparks are struck by the collision between devout petition and divine intent. There is no better place to pray than with the assembled body of Christ."
