How to find a mentor and how to choose the right type of mentorship for you? Your choice in mentors depends on what you need from your life and what is right for your life situation.

Three types of mentors:

1 – Reading books by entrepreneurs or other types of people who have made it before you and have written down everything that they have accomplished in life and how they have accomplished it.

This is not the most efficient type of mentorship, because you spent a lot of time reading a book that is written for relatively wide audience. It is not directly targeted to you. So, you are getting the lowest amount of results out of the three types of mentorship.

2 – Getting coached. If you are looking to get good at business, then get a good business coach. The big benefit here is that the results that you are getting are astronomically higher than from a book. A lot of the most successful people that I know they go into getting a mentor and getting coached by a person who is a specialist, who know what he is talking about and adjust his message to you.

What happens is that the results are much higher, the flexibility is much higher. It does cost more money and overall I think this is the best solution for most people.

3 – Work with someone. You can do this by getting a job. But usually you do not get paid. If you want to get mentored and see how they run their business, in most cases you are not going to get paid.

A lot of times people take internships where they get mentored like this or a very low paid position. They are going to teach you a lot. Then you are going to be able to replicate the results and then you are going to be able to do it in your own life. However, you have to work for someone else and listen to what he says and you have to do what you are told to do.

You will have very low amount of flexibility. They will teach you, but they will not adjust the message just to you. They will adjust the message based on what they want you to do for their company. You are kind of stuck with jobs. Most of the mentorships like this are jobs.

They are not going to teach you how to run a business, they are not going to show you the broad overview unless you spend like unless you spend a decade in that company.

There are many advantages and disadvantages with all three of these mentorships and I have tried all of them.

How do you get the books? You just go and buy them. How do you get the business mentor? You go out and find the type of mentor that is good for you and runs the type of business that you want to run successfully and has business mentorship or other type of mentorship skills that you need.

Just knowing something, just being good at something does not mean that you are good at teaching it. It is a very hard skill to learn how to teach people and adjust the message to their personality, to their needs. It is a very complicated skill.

Always choose the right person, who can prove that they have results, who can prove that they have results and who have a community behind them that is supporting them and are raving fans. That is very important when you are selecting that kind of mentor.
