Here is how to make a 6 – figure business using Upwork.

1 - Create an Upwork profile and choose something that is not very popular on Upwork, so you can get approved. Upwork is making it harder and harder for new freelancers to come into their platform. The reason why they are taking this step is because the flood of freelancers is getting bigger and bigger.

They want to make sure the platform has more professionals and as a result to make the user experience of both freelancers and employers better.

2 - Get other people review your profile. Usually, these are clients that you have been working with outside of Upwork. 5 reviews are enough to get started and get ranked higher on Upwork. These reviews will make your profile stronger and you will appear as a very trusted person who can provide high quality work.

While digital freelance marketplaces like Upwork have played a big role in helping companies and individuals find talented independent workers, the sheer size of freelancers bidding for a project make it very difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.

It is much harder to get high quality clients without having good reviews on your profile.

As a freelancer, trying to find good paying projects on Upwork can be an uphill task. You need to not only outbid talented competition, but also contest with freelancers who are willing to charge very low rates. Your reviews is what is going to differentiate you from the crowd.

3 - Figure out what you are going to sell on Upwork. Do your market research and make sure that there is a demand in the market for what you are selling. There have to be at least 20 jobs per day that you can apply to.

Marketing research can give a business a picture of what kinds of new products and services may bring a profit. Failure to do market research before you begin a business venture or during its operation can result in a lot of wasted hours in trying to find a client that needs your services.

4 - Get people on calls and close them. Talking to your clients on the phone brings more authority in you. They trust you more and you have a much higher chance to close them. Ask them to pay you 100% upfront or even recurring. Repeat the process and fill up your pipeline with more leads.

People think it’s super complicated to be successful on Upwork. However, if you keep it simple and do not do the service delivery forever, you make a successful 6 – figure business. In other words, you have to make 8 sales at about $1K.

Your goal has to be the charge clients on recurring basis every single month and to offer a life time value. That way, you will build stability in your business and you don’t have to worry whether your business will survive the next month or not.
