Many people are a little confused when they are learning sales for the first time. If you want to improve your sales skills, you have to find out what you want on a sales call. Beginners on sales calls are usually very polite and they try to be as friendly as possible, but in fact, that is a very wrong strategy on sales calls.

It is very important to value your time if you want to be respected in business. Every minute of your day should be put in something that is not a waste of time.

Being polite on a sales call is a very subjective topic. For some people, that has one meaning and for other people completely different. The reality is that you have to find the right balance between being rude and being polite and you have to adjust yourself to every single client.

Establishing a strong frame and boundaries are very important when talking to clients. Sometimes you have to do the right thing no matter how bad or rude it is. If you have to reject them, do it, because that will save you a lot of time and worries in your future relationship.

Sales people need to have these 2 qualities. They need to have empathy, but they also need to be aggressive and sharp. They need to find the right balance and be really good at both.

You need to be sure what you are doing and what you are trying to achieve. Be confident and share stories from your past experience. That way, it is much more likely your client to believe in you and your skills and therefore the chance that they will buy is bigger.

A person’s confidence is related to his self – esteem. You can add to it by knowing a lot about your product or service, doing your market research, doing sales calls. That is when your confidence is growing and when you are sure what you are talking about.

If you do not have enough confidence, borrow it from someone else. Join a group of people called a mastermind, use their skills, expertise and knowledge and borrow it from them. Share your vision, hire a freelancer. Borrow his skills and portfolio, make some sales and outsource them to your freelancer.
