When you talk about De La Soul, you’ll inevitably bring up their legendary record, Three Feet High And Rising. It changed the game, blending samples with an optimistic take on hip hop. It was fun, and it was completely different. But De La’s game goes much further with the trio always staying a step ahead of their contemporaries. Their latest album, ...And The Anonymous Nobody, see’s them using a live band and basing their verses off of the band’s own jam sessions. They’ve also called in some famous friends, and the results make up one of the best records of the year. My conversation with De La Soul’s Dave.
