In an exclusive interview with TheRightDoctors on Emcure AICOG tv, Dr. Rajendrasingh Pardeshi, consultant, Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Jijai Maternity and Nursing Home, Aurangabad spoke about abortion in India and PCPNDT act. This is what he said:
' PCPNDT means Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Detection test and this act. Government made this act and enforced in1994 to save the girl child because the sex ratio has been declined.
This act is for the betterment of the society for the girl child and all, but there are loop holes in the act because the act the implementation act is not proper because this act has been linked to MTP act also
That is why MTP has been hampered and we doctors cannot give efficient services to the women and MTP is right in some condition
To save girl child is our motto, but sad thing is that this is not the motto of all. Doctors, society and government are equally important.
If dowry will be removed then this problem will automatically will be removed. Many families they do not want to be father of a girl child because they will harass by societies.
Next thing, in the society there too many things and too many Panchayats and all those, this is a big issue so violence against women. Many many issues if this will reduced, automatically this act means, there is no need of this act.
Only 5% culprits are there, black sheep’s are there, so do not make responsible and do not harass 90 to 95% innocent doctors.'
