How did you meet your best friend at Wesleyan? This week, Mia Lobel ’97 speaks with Amanda Marks ’88 and Sarah Madsen Hardy ’88 who, in an entertaining exchange, share an unusual housing request that brought them together.
Amanda: “Why would you request such a crazy thing?”
Sarah: “They aren’t uptight—they tend not to be too controlling. Nobody who’s going to be anal or demanding…”
At Wesleyan, Amanda studied film, and continues to work in that industry as a creative—Amanda is a Key Art award winning copywriter and producer and is the Creative Director of Deacon Entertainment in Los Angeles. Amanda continues to study at Wesleyan, in a way—she's taking a Coursera class with Scott Plous on Social Psychology. She recently had a class-related videochat with 5 other students from all over the world—"It was so cool that all learning and connection came from our wonderful little school in Middletown, CT."
Sarah studied English at Wesleyan and went on to receive her PhD at the University of Michigan. She now teaches writing at Boston University.
The Wesleyan Storytelling Project is produced by Mia Lobel ’97 and production intern Tess Altman ’17.
