This is the final album version of the track, 'Ships In The Sky'. It's taken from my 7th solo album, SWITCHED-ON BECK (released on 13th October, 2020).
The part-instrumental, is dedicated to the wonderful mosaic mural, designed by Alan Boyson (originally entitled 'Three Ships'), & was constructed above the Co-Operative Society building in the centre of Hull, East Yorkshire, in 1963. The front of the building was later taken over by British Home Stores, until it closed in 2016. The massive mural, & incidentally the UK's largest mosaic mural, towers over the city centre, & was/is land-marked for demolition (to make way for redevelopment), but has now been given a Grade II Listed Status, by Historic England. However, there is an ongoing debate about it's future. It needs to be saved, as it is impressive, unique & IS part of Hull.
I have tried to convey the different moods, & conditions of, the water/sea, & the majesty that is the Three Ships mural.
I hope it does it justice...& I do hope that it gets preserved, & remains a part of Hull.
