Description

Josh is joined by recurring guest Josh Brown to talk about two movies. First, they discuss one of the weirdest and most poorly-reviewed movies of 2018, Robert Zemeckis' "Welcome to Marwen" (Beginning-31:14). They get into why a movie about a man who uses dolls to create WWII reenactments was made when it had already been a well-received documentary, how whether Steve Carell is able to keep the movie together in the lead role and how successfully the movie conveys its messages about coping with trauma and mental illness.

The Joshes then discuss Clint Eastwood's latest film, "The Mule," (31:15-End) as they get into how the movie shows Clint Eastwood's politics to be more nuanced than his public persona lets on as it tells the story of an old white guy working as a drug mule for the cartel, whether it avoids the racist pitfalls of Gran Torino and how Eastwood succeeds as a lead actor at 88 years old.
