Description

Josh is joined by recurring guest Fred Kolb for the weirdest double feature The Rewind has done to date, as they talk about Serenity (Beginning-34:09) and Velvet Buzzsaw (34:10-end). They discuss what how there is a version of Serenity that would have made sense as a movie, how director Steven Knight got so many big-time actors to sign up for such a bizarre movie and commiserate over Matthew McConaughey's continued drought since the end of The McConaissance.

Then, as they get into Dan Gilroy's Velvet Buzzsaw, they discuss Jake Gyllenhaal's bonkers performance, how Gilroy made it distinctive from your normal horror movie and whether the movie's message about the commercialism of art is conveyed as intended.

Spoilers for Serenity start at 17:13. Spoilers for Velvet Buzzsaw throughout.
