Stigmata started his career as a producer in the early 80s, influenced by bands like Skinny Puppy, Nitzer Ebb, and artist Isao Tomita. Using his first audio tools, an Atari 1040ST, he began experimenting with tracks and met musicians like Toni Rios, Marco Cannata, and Tommy Bingel. His early releases were on labels like Harthouse and Eye-Q. In 1994, he met Chris Liebing, and from that point on, André influenced every Liebing release. Together, they launched SOAP Records, with André using pseudonyms like "Noosa Heads" and "E.H.R."
Besides his work with Liebing, André collaborated with artists like Monika Kruse, Moguai, and Gayle San. In 1998, they intensified their partnership, leading to the creation of the AUDIO, CLR, and CLAU labels. André’s passion for horror films and mysticism shaped the STIGMATA project, which played a key role in modern techno’s evolution.
In 2001, André won the "Best Producer Award" at the German Dance Awards. In 2018, he returned with a new techno album under the Stigmata alias, and in 2022 and 2024, he released music on various labels e.g. Flash Recordings, Adroit & IMF.
