ANCHORED – WHEN EXPECTATIONS AND REALITY COLLIDE-PT.2
“Among men it is customary to swear by something greater than themselves. And if a statement is confirmed by an oath, that is the end of all quibbling. So in this matter, God, wishing to show beyond doubt that his plan was unchangeable, confirmed it with an oath. So that by two utterly immutable things, the word of God and the oath of God, who cannot lie, we who are refugees from this dying world might have a source of strength, and might grasp the hope that he holds out to us.” Hebrews 6:16-18
“I solemnly swear by my own name, decrees the Lord... I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the strongholds of their enemies.” Genesis 22:15-17
“and from your descendants all the peoples of the earth will discover true blessing. All this is because you have obeyed My voice.” Genesis 22:18
“That hope is real and true, an anchor to steady our restless souls, a hope that leads us back behind the veil to where God is (as the high priests did in the days when reconciliation flowed from sacrifices in the temple) and back into the place where Jesus, who went ahead on our behalf, has entered since He has become a High Priest forever...” Hebrews 6:19-20
1. GOD DOESN’T WANT US TO WASTE OUR SORROWS.
He longs for us to keep faith in life’s storms
He goes to great effort to show us his heart, that he is completely trustworthy.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:31-32
His good plan and purpose for you never changes.
He knows our souls are restless and can easily drift.
2. GOD ANCHORS A LIFELINE TO US IN A DYING, RESTLESS, UNSTABLE WORLD.
The anchor is secure on the other side of the veil.
3. I FIND STABILITY AS I HOLD ON TO THE LIFELINE THAT IS ALSO SECURELY CONNECTED TO ME.
...grasp the hope that he holds out to us.
4. LIFE CHANGE HAPPENS AS I PULL FORWARD BY FAITH.
Faith = Kedging = grasping and pulling into God’s trustworthy Word.
