Upon listening to Camayenne Sofa's 'Kononin' I was sold on the idea of reworking African tracks from the 70's, particularly from 1974, the year I was put on this Earth. I decided to call the project Ritimo Malaike, which has its own special connotation in Angola, where my family resided shortly after my birth. It is an inside joke. On stage Ritimo Malaike is performed as a Live Mixing Act, similar to Djing but more spontaneous and improvised, particularly due to having control of individual tracks in each song. Nu Soufa is the first installment of this flash to the past, hope you enjoy it.
