Description

“Light and Shadow,” gets its name from a quote in Clarice Lispector’s novel “Near to the Wild Heart”: “Instead of obtaining myself by fleeing, I find myself forsaken, alone, tossed into a dimensionless cubicle, where light and shadow are quiet ghosts”. In that vein, “Light and Shadow,” is a sonic exploration and momentary acknowledgement of the ghosts that are sewn into the mist and fog of lonely Dutch mornings through light and dense ambient soundscapes, tracks that pierce with spoken word, and personal intimations interlaced with literature and cultural theory to ground the body, give dimensions to the cubicle of the mind. Ghosts, spectres, are all around us, but we move forward, we honour their non-presence with our presence – the grief is immense, but so is the joy.
