Has Joel 3:1-3, the division of the land of Israel, been fulfilled with the December 23, 2016 passage of the UN Security Council Resolution concerning Israel? This resolution makes it international law that these areas are “illegally occupied Palestinian lands”. The resolution, in effect, calls for the dividing of the land of Israel and Jerusalem. Passage of UN Security Council Resolution 2334 now makes Jews living in the areas (which include the Mount of Olives, the Western Wall and the Old City of Jerusalem) regarded as being “illegal occupiers of Palestinian lands” and makes this a violation of international law.
What is the prophetic “kiss of Esau” ? It is a “kiss of betrayal”. Historically, it is associated with when Jacob was instructed by the God of Israel to return to the land of Israel after living with Laban for 20 years (Genesis 31:1-2, 41). When Jacob returned to the land of Israel, he encountered Esau. Being afraid that Esau wanted to kill him, Jacob tried to appease Esau with gifts (Gen 32: 3-5). However Esau was prepared to make war with Jacob and greeted Jacob with a company of 400 men (Gen 32:6). When Jacob saw that Esau was prepared to make war with him, Jacob became greatly afraid and distressed (Gen 32:7). Prophetically Jacob’s encounter with Esau is referred to as Jacob’s trouble (Jer. 30:7). Jacob’s trouble is a term for the Great Tribulation.
