It is explained here that evil is real, and is the complete absence of love: that we may create amazing things through love, in combatting evil, but when love is missing, evil flourishes. This message fills us in that the key to being spiritually aware is not labeling others as evil, but realizing that they are just lacking in love and it is their deeds that are evil.
