On this episode of the Yay, Norman and I talk to Maryssa Wanlass, the Artistic Director of the Utopia Theatre Project (www.utopiatheatreproject.com), and an actor at Cal Shakes. She’s also a teaching artist at the TheatreWorks Silicon Valley and Cal Shakespeare Theatre. Maryssa talks about her experiences at Mills College, studying abroad in London, her work as a teaching artist at the California Shakespeare Theatre and TheatreWorks in Silicon Valley, and the current work she’s doing at Utopia. We also talk about Every Day Alice, written by Anne Yumi Kobori, which Maryssa will direct. The play will be at Pianofight on February 15th.

My good friend, SeanJ West, is asking for donations for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-TALK). Many people have a hard time dealing with the stresses of life and the hotline will connect anyone for free with someone who can talk, and most importantly, listen. Funded by SAMHSA and administered by Vibrant Emotional Health, a 501c3 org. To donate, visit SeanJ West’s facebook page.
