Description

The Chilean coup 1973. The musician Victor Jara is killed for his music. How can music have such great power that a dictator fears the music?
Patricio Wang speaks about the strength of music and the coup in Chile.

This podcast series Music as a Weapon, narrates about musicians
that had to flee their country because of their music

We start with Patricio Wang, the composer. He had to leave Chile for the repressive Pinochet regime. And he came into exile in the Netherlands. My podcasts tell about the lives of these musicians who have been persecuted. Through their stories, I want to investigate why repressive regimes are so afraid of music.

Igor Stravinsksi once said that music expresses nothing but music. But reality is different. Because, music does not seem innocent.
