Today, I covered S1E8: Science Fair, which aired on November 21, 2021.
In this episode after seeing Dean bullied by Michael, Lillian confronts his parents; Lillian helps Michael with his science project.
I liked this episode for what Lillian attempted with helping the less fortunate Michael (Dean's bully in school) by giving him attention and helping him with his science project, feeding him dinner and being kind and generous. I don't know any parent who would go out of their way to help their child's bully/tormentor.
Whether it helped or not who really knows, but I gotta say Dean's confidence in basically being a shoo in came off really cocky and in this episode it made me not really like him let alone wanna root for him due to a scene at the science fair (you'll know it when you get to it).
I actually felt for Michael's situation, I didn't like how it seemed like Lillian was trying to justify Michael's bullying and actions at school were due to his home life and lack of parental guidance. Although I mean she was trying to get Dean to see that we can't always judge someone until we see things from their point of view or the saying walk a mile in their shoes.
The show at the end with Don Cheadle as adult Dean coming on and saying a reboot coming along that is better than the original.
No, this is not in anyway or I feel ever will be better than the OG Wonder Years show. It's good in it's own right and honestly that should be enough. It's a reboot not a sequel to a movie (which honestly how often is a sequel better than the first movie, very rare) that doesn't need to be better than it's predecessor.
