Hey there Wonderlings,

Happy Labor Day! I hope you all are having a great holiday weekend and well… Welcome to September, to Fall, to sweater weather, to falling leaves, and of course pumpkin spice everything to which I am a fan.

I’m your host Angela Bowen and I thought in honor of Labor Day I’d review Season 4 Episode 1 Growing Up which aired on September 19, 1990 because it’s a Labor Day themed episode.

In this episode With the end of the summer approaching, the Arnolds decide to attend Jack's Labor Day work picnic. When it is learned that Jack was passed over for a promotion that goes to one of his rivals, tensions grow high between him and Kevin, who wants to prove that he is no longer a little kid.

Goodbye Summer!! See you in 2018.

Here is my Flower Power Episode Rating:

I’m giving it 5 out of 5 Flower Power Petals:

1. Kevin and Winnie are now a couple. Yay!!

2. Soleil Moon Frye makes an appearance.

3. A car ride where laughter can be heard from the Arnold family (minus Wayne) I think that helps.

4. Kevin and Wayne brotherly moment as well as Jack and Kevin father/son moment.

5. Tearful goodbye as Karen leaves for college.

Wonderling Words of Wisdom: If you try to sneak a beer three times and fail maybe you should just quit because you’re a teenager and shouldn’t be drinking anyway, Kevin!! Although I’m one to talk when I was 14 I once got a beer for my Dad, popped the top and took a quick swig before I handed it to him. A family member who either leaves for college or moves away can bring family together even if only for a brief period of time. Wayne and Kevin put their quarreling aside to say goodbye to their older sister.

My Quote Of The Episode:

Jack: Don't ever get old, Kev.
Narrator: I wasn't sure whether he meant me, or him. I guess we both knew it didn't really matter. We didn't have a choice. Growing up is never easy. You hold on to things that were. You wonder what's to come. But that night, I think we knew it was time to let go of what had been, and look ahead to what would be. Other days. New days. Days to come. The thing is, we didn't have to hate each other for getting older. We just had to forgive ourselves for growing up.

After that I will be taking a month long break in September and start Season 3 in October beginning with Season 3 Episode 3 Wayne on Wheels which aired on October 24, 1989 and focuses on Wayne finally gets his driver's license, but doesn't sit well with his new job of driving Kevin and Paul around.

I’ll probably be doubling up on the episodes so I can finish Season 3 before December and take that month off and release the 3 Christmas episodes that month.

All right Wonderlings, have a great week!
