13 – We start our discussion of D23 conference with the Disney Legends. It was no surprise that Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau won the title, but we were pleased by the inclusion of Ming-na Wen from Agents of Shield. We also found out that Disney plans on going against the trend of promoting binge-watching. Just like its subsidiary, Hulu, Disney will be releasing episodes one by one on its streaming site.
32 – We got a bunch of show announcements for Disney+! There is a LADY AND THE TRAMP reboot, LIZZIE MCGUIRE will be making a comeback, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL is getting a mockumentary, and we’ll get to find out what THE WORLD is ACCORDING TO JEFF GOLDBLUM. We also got the trailer for THE MANDALORIAN, which has left us eagerly awaiting its November release.
30 – And of course, there are quite a few Marvel shows to look forward to as well. Fans will finally get a MS MARVEL on screen featuring the teenaged Kamala Khan. They will also be getting SHE-HULK and MOONKNIGHT. Brian speculates that Intelligent Hulk in Endgame may have been a test run to see how well She-Hulk’s character would work on screen. He also explains Kamala and MoonKnight’s stories to Mandy.
39 – We now have a date for Black Panther 2, and it’s a long, long time away. Eternals added two more actors to its a-list cast roster. The Black Widow trailer shown in comic con will not be seen by the rest of us mere mortals till next May. How on earth did they manage to plug all leaks?
30 – Pixar also had two shows to promote. SOULS and ONWARD. Brian talks about the awkwardness of having Tom Holland take questions about the Sony-Marvel fight in the middle of a panel for Onward.
44 – Which brings us to the many rumors floating around about the two studios and how they might be thinking of resolving the Spidey issue.
52 – And finally, we come to the trailer of RISE OF SKYWALKER. Mandy wasn’t too impressed by the collage of disconnected footage passed off as a trailer, but we couldn’t help but speculate a bit about Rey’s Sith wardrobe and that very distinct double light-saber in the last scene.
28 – We wonder if AMC has plans to release their own streaming site since most of their best properties have not found a home yet. BREAKING BAD and WALKING DEAD are still on Netflix, but for how long?
51 – The trailer release for JOKER last week, left us reeling. Robert DeNiro’s character reminded Brian of The King of Comedy, an old movie with a similar storyline where DeNiro debuted by playing the Joker’s part.
31 - The war bugles have been sounded. Last Friday, Amazon released CARNIVAL ROW, while Netflix released DARK CRYSTAL. Let the streaming wars begin!
