On Sunday March 6th, 2016 the Western Mustangs would battle the Nipissing Lakers in Game #3 of the OUA Semi-Finals (Best of 3 Series). Everything on the line with the loser being eliminated and the winner advancing to the Judy McCaw Cup (OUA Championship) and Nationals in Calgary, Alberta. This game would need triple overtime to settle a winner, Kirkham would score the game winner for Western after 110+ minutes of 0-0 hockey.
