Maxwell Foxman is an assistant professor of Media Studies and Game Studies in the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon. He describes Game Studies as an academic discipline and talks about the presence of games and play in non-game contexts. Foxman is a member of the UO's Esports and Game Research lab which examines college-level esports and how esports is institutionalizing in university and college campuses.
