Description

[Chorus]
Ken McElroy was pure evil, he was the devil's right hand man
But on July 10, 1981, I finally put an end to that
There's 500 good and god fearing people that are living in this town
But not single one of them will ever open up about the day that he went down

[Verse]
For 15 years McElroy, a bully, a scoundrel, and a thief
Terrorized this town and nobody did nothing, not the courts, not the police
21 charges over all those years not single one would stick`
He walked around like he was above the law and just the sight him made everybody sick

[Verse}
McElroy met his last wife Trena, when he was 35 and she was in 8th grade
By 14 she was pregnant and McElroy feared that he'd be charged with rape
To avoid the charge, he'd marry her, but he couldn't get her parents to sign the release
So he burned down their house and shot their dog and terrified, they reluctantly agreed

[Verse]
Almost everyone in Skidmore had had a run-in with him over many fearful years
We were all well past the point of "had enough" and we were finally past the fear
We met with Sheriff Estes and he tried to tell us not to take things into our own hands
But I guess he knew what was coming and drove straight out of town, like he was never coming back

[Verse]
McElroy was drunk and vengeful on that July day as he climbed into his truck
Shots rang out like thunder but only two hit him and I know that mine was one
There were 50 people standing around no one called an ambulance nobody saw a thing
He was a man that needed killing and I was glad to be the one to put him in his grave

[Chorus]
Ken McElroy was pure evil, he was the devil's right hand man
But on July 10, 1981, we finally took our stand
There's 500 good and god fearing people that are living in this town
But not single one of them will ever open up about the day we finally took him down
