After introductions and explaining the different types of episodes and formats we will be bringing you guys every week, we examine former would-be Oscar hopefuls for this year that have fallen flat or lost steam. We examine War for the Planet of the Apes (11:48) and the concept of #MakesApesApeAgain; Wonder Woman (14:34) and how Chris Pine’s dialogue may have hurt the film; Detroit (16:07) and the difficulty of that movie; and the recent release Stronger (18:13).
Afterwards is the meat of the pod as Mike and Mike delve into the “Big 5 contending” films talked about this podcast:

Though neither one will probably get serious Oscar consideration, the MMandO Academy of 2 would certainly nominate them as must sees. We give our thoughts on Baby Driver (1:41:27) and the remake of IT (1:51:31) before going through our Oscars standings as we have them right now (2:04:43); where we rank our top 3 contenders in movies released wide so far in the Big 7 Oscar categories.
