We wanted to break from the Oscar Sprint Profiles to cover & follow-up on the recent Hollywood News. If you’re curious how we’re going to transition into the 2018 movie year, we preview our final month of the Award Season coverage, dive into some of the early reactions and our expectations for the upcoming blockbuster Black Panther, and foreshadow another Netflix Original Movies show where we digress into a breakdown of A Future and Stupid Gesture, The Polka King, and we react to the new Duncan Jones/ Alexander Skarsgaard / Paul Rudd sci-fi epic, Mute.
The Times Up movement needed an update, and we wanted to dive into some of the recent allegations as well as follow-up on some of the stories we’ve covered. We continue the James Franco story, discuss how Casey Affleck bowed out of this year’s Oscars, illuminate our views about the Dylan Farrow allegations against Woody Allen and the recent denunciations from his cast members, and we discuss the Aziz Ansari story. We also interject our feelings about the film, Marshall during this conversation, and we harken back to the bad old days of Charlie Chaplan and Harvey Weinstein.
Hollywood has reacted to The State of the Union Address, and we debate how the Late Night talk shows covered the event. Politics are a dicey subject these days, but we do our best to navigate that minefield. We refuse to hide from it.
Then we can cover some lighter subjects. The Razzie Nominations came out this past week, and mother! Cast and Crew were nominated to our dismay. We LIVE TWEETED the SAG awards and review those winners. MMO will continue to cover those events on social media throughout the rest of the month. Do stay tuned.
