Description

Altin Village & Mine, Mangel, and Ichi Ichi will release the LP »Die Knochen / Die Kanten« on October 31st, 2025. The album collects the two EPs by Das Kinn, originally issued in 2021 and 2023 as limited 10" vinyl and cassette, both are sold out.

The tracks on »Die Knochen / Die Kanten« are defined by their clarity and directness. Minimal electronic beats meet laconic spoken vocals, creating a sound that is both precise and stark, yet rhythmically compelling. The lyrics offer short, fragmentary images: bodies, bones, machines, decay — lists and observations capturing what remains, or what falls apart. At times, one hears the precision of DAF, elsewhere the dramatic flair of Falco, and a detached, documentary-like intimacy reminiscent of Hubert Fichte.

Piel is no stranger to experimental music: since 2008, he has explored the intersection of sound, body, and political action as part of Les Trucs, a performance duo with Charlotte Simon. Through his cassette label MMODEMM, he helped shape Frankfurt’s underground scene, alongside numerous works for theatre and radio. His first official album as Das Kinn was recently released on Bureau B, firmly establishing him as a solo artist.

On stage, the tracks unfold with striking intensity. Their concise structures translate into a tangible, physical force, where moments of stoic calm can suddenly erupt into bursts of energy. A Das Kinn performance is never just a recital — it is an immersive, demanding, and immediate experience.

»Die Knochen« (2021) and »Die Kanten« (2023) were recorded at the Office du Pain studio in Frankfurt and mastered by Gavin Weiss in Hamburg. »Menschen 1987« features additional vocals from Charlotte Simon, while Johanna Gauder performs alongside Simon on »ASMR«. Cover photography is by Monika Piel (Die Knochen) and Nicola Malkmus (Die Kanten), with the original EP artwork by Sofie Böhm. For the LP, Carmen Orschinski reworked these elements into a cohesive new design.
