Hey ya’ll hey!
Thanks for tuning into Episode 33 of Tellemtiptoldyou—"Critical Black Excellence.” On today’s episode, we discuss the new film Queen and Slim. We interrogate some of the media coverage of the film itself and of the writer’s perceived missteps regarding the film’s ending, casting call, and her description of her own Blackness.
In discussing the Queen and Slim we hit upon the responsibility some of us believe Black artists have to their communities in a time of oppression fatigue (including Zimmerman’s recent lawsuit against the Martin family and attorney.
Stress relief is critical and we discuss how me must be strategic about our self care—especially given the current climate.
