Description

Since he became Prime Minister of Turkey in 2002, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's rule has become increasingly authoritarian, with his treatment of journalists, writers and artists causing international concern. Juliet talks to art critic Fisun Güner (https://fisunguner.com) and Tuna Erdem of the Istanbul Queer Art Collective (https://www.istanbulqueerartcollective.co.uk) about how the situation has worsened since the Occupy Gezi protests in 2013 and the failed military coup of 2016, why Erdoğan's government has targeted the art world, and how artists might fight back.
