This week’s guest on Ana Fernandes Fade to Sunset is New York based Japanese DJ Takaya Nagase. Known as one of the parents of New York's legendary JOY party at Decatur Audio Laboratory, Takaya’s musical style doesn't neatly fit into one genre. He plays with all kinds of music - house, disco, soul, funk, jazz, reggae, dub, techno, ambient, electronica, rock, African, and Latin music are among his favourites. His style is free, flexible, and original, but most of all fun.
A&R rep for Soundmen on Wax Records and worldwide rep for Alpha Recording System, Takaya currently works as Grammy award winner Louie Vega's exclusive sound technician. Many have recognised him as one of the wisest sound senseis.
