"Clicks & Cuts is a sub-genre that rose from the Glitchy aesthetic of Experimental and IDM records of the mid-90s. As producers became more comfortable with harnessing their floppy-disked samplers, they began to magnify the digital faults and electric pops that arise from playback equipment and mould it into something fertile. Pioneers such as Pole, Jan Jelinek and Oval were traveling on a road formed by Musique Concrete and Minimal tendencies, taking angular chunks of audio to develop microrhythms and loop phrases into ethereal mind-melting ambient phrases. Of course Click & Cuts had it's fair share of cross-pollination and we dive into how the sound branched out and blossomed with eyes to dub, jazz and the dancefloor too. https://soundcloud.com/iamdanielgeorge
