Tune in for a special mix featuring songs that he discovered and fell in love with while traveling or living abroad, revisiting some of his own memories of travel and discovery through music:
"The songs in this mix remind me of specific places and contexts where I first heard them, or where I fell in love with them. The opening track, for example, brings back a vivid memory of driving through the night from Amsterdam to Paris while on tour, on the day of the Brussels airport terrorist attack in 2016. I remember feeling very far away from home, chaotic, and strange. AAMAR’s track “Home” was the perfect calming and introspective piece of music for that surreal moment in time. As we slowly head into the post-pandemic world where traveling, and touring if you’re a musician, is once again considered a normal thing to do, I thought I’d revisit some of my own memories of travel and discovery through music. It is also a fitting theme for my upcoming new album as Arms and Sleepers, which is titled “former kingdoms” and drops on May 10. The record was written exactly 25 years after I first immigrated to the US and is an attempt to memorialize that ultimate journey in my life which changed me forever.
