This mix represents the diversity of sounds we call Funk, Style, Quality music – the FSQ ethos. Everything begins with Funk for us, which is why you hear George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic in the mix, but we flip many Styles, including Caribbean Disco, Deep House, Balearic, and New Wave, all of which show up in various ways in this mix. This diversity defines the spirit of a true FSQ DJ set, inspiring us to present this unique array of music to dancefloors everywhere. For this Open Lab Ibiza FSQ DJ mix, we globally premiere “On The Map,” one of our more Balearic-leaning tracks, which we wrote about our 2017 trip to Hostal La Torre in Ibiza. “On The Map” is sung beautifully by vocalist Eugene Tamborine and is anchored by Funkadelic founder Billy Bass Nelson’s lush guitars and solid bass. We are playing it here in tribute to Billy Bass who recently passed away at age 75 and was a keystone in the P-Funk empire. Lots more FSQ original songs and FSQ remixes produced for other artists are in this one-hour set, which is capped on both ends by the various Prins Thomas Diskomiks versions of our New York City new wave-leaning track, “Feeling Wide,” featuring Moniquea and XL Middleton. “
